Unique live edge

This is not a standard wall shelf.

This is one piece of solid oak with a shape you cannot order again.

The long, flowing live edge calls to mind the line of a coast — soft, natural and nowhere entirely straight. No machine thought this shape up. The tree did.

All we did was try to make its character visible: the edge followed carefully and sanded smooth, without taking the natural character away.

This exact piece exists only once. The combination of the shape, the grain, the natural live edge and the thickness cannot be made again exactly.

Why 01?

Every tree has its own lines.

On this board that natural line runs on remarkably far. The unique live edge moves softly along the length of the piece, so that the board almost resembles a natural coastline.

It is exactly this kind of shape that we at MAHOWA do not want to hide. We sand the wood smooth, finish it carefully and let the character speak.

No straight standard edge, and nothing imitated: this is the outside of the trunk itself, where the bark was. This line was made by the tree — a machine makes at most something that looks like it.

    Layer after layer, until the surface feels smooth.

    Followed by hand, so the shape stays soft but crisply finished.
