An oak shelf for your alcove
Wall to wall. To the centimetre.
An alcove rarely has a round measurement. We cut solid oak to the length and depth you enter, 2.2 or 4 cm thick, and finish it in our workshop.
How to measure the alcove
A tape measure and two minutes. The same guide sits in the configurator, next to the fields.
- The width, twice Measure at the height where the shelf goes, at the front and at the back. Walls are rarely square: the smallest measurement is your length.
- The depth From the back wall to where the shelf may end. From 10 to 100 cm.
- Room to fit it We cut to the length you enter. If you want some play to slide the shelf in, take it off yourself.
- The thickness 2.2 or 4 cm. See the difference.
Resting, or floating?
In an alcove a shelf can hang in two ways. They are two different solutions, with a different mounting.
- On the side walls The shelf rests on supports of your own choosing, under the shelf or in the side walls. Choose without mounting in the configurator: you get the shelf, the supports are yours.
- Floating on the back wall With the invisible mounting: steel rods in the back of the shelf, € 9 per bracket. We drill the holes in the shelf. It needs a solid back wall of concrete or brick; it is not suitable for plasterboard or a hollow wall.

Questions
My alcove is not equally wide everywhere. Which size do I enter?
The smallest, at the height where the shelf goes. If the front and back differ by more than a few millimetres, send us both measurements and a photo and we will tell you what we would do.
Can a shelf in an alcove float?
Yes, on the back wall, with the invisible mounting. It needs a solid wall of concrete or brick. If the shelf rests on the side walls, you do not need that mounting.
Can I still change my size later?
Email us straight away with your order number. If we have not cut yet, we will see what is possible. A custom size is cut for you; that is why it cannot be returned after delivery. What you can return.
